Mark Valentine's Day with a beautiful natural photo session

February is already here and for Valentine's Day I am running a very special offer. Rather than the usual bunch of flowers and dinner, why not go for something extra-special that can be cherished forever?
Using natural light rather than flash photography, these 45 minute photoshoots result in images with a romantic and natural feel (see examples below from the lovely Ellen & Jamie's shoot a couple of weeks ago). You may choose to have the shoot of just the two of you, or as a family.
Sessions are priced at just £50, half the price of a usual portrait session and include either a 10" print of your choice, or two 7" prints (so you can have one each!) beautifully printed on the highest quality fine art paper. My 15 year celebratory 15% discount does not apply for this offer (as it is already discounted), but certainly applies to any further prints/CDs/ albums should you wish to buy more!
February 14th isn't far away, and spaces are limited as this offer is only available this month, so book now to secure your session. You can choose to have the shoot on the day itself or beforehand (subject to availability) or purchase a voucher to put in your Valentine's card.

Thank you for a great 2014, and join me in celebrating 15 years with 15% of everything!

I imagine this is the last retrospective on 2014 that you’ll read and the first one in February! Updating my blog more frequently was a New Year’s resolution – OK, so not the best start!
2014 was a fantastically enjoyable year for me. January kicked off rewardingly for me, firstly through photographing Emily and Terry's beautiful wedding at Clearwell Castle - one of my favourite venues - and then winning the award for the Best Portrait in the BIPP South West Awards. In February I held my first ever workshop to help aspiring photographers improve their skills. In March I had the privilege of photographing a dear friends wedding, whereas May took Fiona and I offshore as we sailed over to the unique Spitbank Fort for Jemma & Jason's special day. In July, Kam & I were at Agatha Christie's former residence in Devon to document the Lacey family reuniting for their mother's 70th birthday. After that it was a case of whizzing back for Libby and Soren's wedding two days later – they came over from Denmark to get married at The Old Lodge in Minchinhampton, just a couple of miles from my studio.
September's 'nursery and schools' season kicked off with one of my personal highlights of the year, when the staff of Chestnuts Nursery presented me with my new white chair, a bottle of Prosecco and a box of chocolates, for photographing their children the past decade. Last year felt so nostalgic with many of my customers from the last 15 years appearing again. The majority whose weddings I had previously photographed, walked through my studio doors to have portraits and photographs taken of their growing families.
In the run up to Christmas I suddenly had an array of interesting shoots come my way. PR work ranged from a toddler hockey club to a church choir as they performed in preparation for their Christmas concert. Portrait shoots included returning to photograph Rosie and Erin, three years on this time on a cosy winter morning at home with their one week old sister, Georgia. The year came to a close on a real high, as I had the huge privelege to photograph Ciara & Brendan's beautiful winter wedding in Chipping Campden. I have known Ciara's family pretty much as long as I have been in business, as her father runs a photo lab I use and her brother Oli used to second shoot for me.
So, as you can probably tell, as we start 2015, I am feeling incredibly nostalgic. It’s now my 15th year in business – and I feel as passionate about my work as ever and feel particularly privileged to have met so many fantastic and happy customers. To mark this milestone appropriately I’ve decided to offer a 15% discount on ALL of my services and products for the whole year…or should that be the remaining 11 months? Oops! Happy New Year!!

Feeling Very Spoilt!

Wow, I LOVE surprises, and twice in the last few days I have been taken aback by completely unexpected gifts, born out of utter kindness.

The first on Friday afternoon, a very unique, vintage style camera necklacefrom a lovely lady I have got to know from the school run, and whose gorgeous children I have had the good fortune to photograph, with a note saying, "Rebecca - saw this in a charity shop in Felixstowe! Not your style I know, but I thought it might amuse you  Love Fiona x"
I personally thinks its totally gorgeous!

And then, today, I arrived at the one and only Chestnuts Day Nursery, car full of kit ready to camp up for the whole week for the 10th (yes 10th!) year running .

Anyone who has had their children photographed by me will I am sure have an image somewhere of their children sitting on a little white chair, every year looking more and more 'rustic' , until last year it finally had to enter a new chapter of its career called retirement.

Today, I was presented, by Lynda and the team at Chestnuts, a brand spanking shiney new white chair, for, as the card stated "The next ten years "! And, not saying that the ladies have figured me out, but the chair was wrapped in a big red bow together with a bottle of prosecco and the biggest bar of Dairy Milk I have seen!
Thank you Lynda and team, and here's to another fun week! xx

Jennifer & Leighton

Back in March I had the great honour to photograph Jennifer and Leighton's fabulous wedding at the beautiful Eastington Park in Gloucestershire, and last week I excitedly presented them with their wedding album.

Seeing the images again, I had the urge to go back and look at the whole collection again, and felt the same rush of emotion as when I saw them for the very first time.

Every wedding is so unique and special, and I was exceptionally excited about this one. I first met Jen when I moved to Chalford a couple of years ago and her son Toby became friends with my son, Henry. Jen saw my website and enquired into booking me to photograph her forthcoming wedding, and you would expect at this point for me to say that 'the rest is history', but far from!

Around the same time, I was working on my Associateship panel for the BIPP and was closley approaching deadline day to submit my portfolio. Because I have a habit of don't do anything by halves, I was at the very same time opening a studio.  Jen's daughter Molly is one very beautiful little lady, and even though at the time I hardly knew them, I asked Jen if I could use Molly to take some test shots at the new studio. We had great fun and consequently, one of the shots of Molly ends up bagging me an award at the BIPP South West Awards, being part of the portfolio that won me Highly Commended in The Peter Grugeon Trophy and ended up as the cover image for my price list, promotional poster etc too!

As the wedding day got closer and closer, the more and more I got to know Jen now as a friend too, and I started getting more and more excited about the wedding. I had never photographed a wedding at Eastington Park before either, and when we went to look around in the lead up to the big day, I knew this was going to be a very elegant affair.

When the day itself arrived, the first day of sunshine in months, it really did feel like the start of spring and everything that it symbolises. I was delighted that Jen & Leighton decided to chose my package of having two photographers, because not only did the very talented Fiona Lord capture fantastic moments which would have been impossible for me to capture if I was working on my own, but also it allowed me to be thoroughly indulged and stay with Jen and the bridemaids, capturing all the little moments right up until the moment they walked down the aisle.

Jen looked stunning in her dress from The White Room (famed for supplying Zara Phillips' wedding dress) and jewellery from Hermoine Harbutt , Leighton very dapper in his suit. The rooms were dressed beautifully by Cotswold Vintage Party Hire and with everything overseen by Lisa and her team at the hotel, the day just flowed perfectly.

It was also fantastic to work with Chris from Indah Wedding Films, and I very much enjoyed watching the video one girly night in with Jen and a couple of other great friends, Lu and Wenna.

Choosing which images to show was very hard as I love the whole set, but I have picked out the following 45 that to me best represented a truly wonderful day. Thank you Jen, Leighton, Molly and Toby for choosing me to be there and being, well, fantastic x
