And in just 10 weeks, Associateship!
I am so delighted to announce that, only 10 weeks after receiving my Licentiateship from The British Institute of Professional Photography, on Monday I was awarded the status of Associateship in Portraiture.
This is, as I quote from the BIPP, recognition of "A high standard of craftsmanship and creative ability".
I was assessed by some of the finest photographers in the country (was pretty starstruck!) , and to be awarded by them, was a huge honour, and one of the happiest days of my life!
I have many to thank for this, but especially to everyone who featured in my panel (one of which I have featured below) , and to Kevin Wilson Hon FBIPP for all the support you have provided as my mentor and friend.
And my fab children, Henry & Sophie, who over the last couple of months, have proved dab hands at using reflectors :)

New Gallery Opening Soon!
I now have the keys to the new gallery, so excited!
This will be initially to exhibit in for the next two months only, a place clients can view their images, or pop in to view my work in general. It will also be used for natural light portrait studies.
Decorating has now been done, but before it had, the most important job had to been done, a portrait shoot of the lovely Molly to test the gallery's lovely available light!
Full details of the exhibition and portrait sessions will follow shortly.
In the mean time, here are my personal favourites from the very first shoot...

Mollie & Oscar
Today's improved weather menant this morning's location shoot of Rosie & Erin went really well. with lovely light and without the interruption of rain. The girls were fantastic, great at posing and really good fun, I am very much looking forward to going through their images.
I was recommended to their lovely mum by one of my regular customers, whose gorgeous children, Mollie & Oscar, I photographed in March in my favourite little park in Gloucester....

Last shot of the day
Today was a good day. I had the pleasure of photographing Georgia & Freya at Berkeley Castle, and even though we finished only just over an hour ago, I couldn't resist a quick peek the second I got home. I love them all (hope their lovely mum Kerry will!) and will be posting them as soon as edited. In the mean time, I feel all ended on a good note with this very last shot....

Thank you, Liz & Paul.
Yesterday I received this lovely email, from Liz & Paul whose wedding I photographed in June:
Dear Rebecca
Paul and I would like to say thank you so much for our Wedding Album. The Album feels as though it is an extension of our day, it shows everything that the day meant to us and just makes the memories of our day even more special.
Paul and I cannot thank you enough Rebecca for our beautiful Album.
With warmest wishes to you.
Paul and Liz

Explaining Shutter Speed to Scouts
I am currently helping my son's scout group to achieve their photographer's badge. Last week I explained the workings of a camera, and it amazed me in this digital age just how fascinated the boys were by the film cameras. We then had great fun experimenting with shutter speeds. Here are 3 shots taken, all at the same exposure, all with the camera in the same position on a tripod, to demonstrate how when you use a slow shutter speed, subject movement is captured.

Keeping it simple
"We must reduce everything to the simplest form possible, but no simpler." - Aristotle.
Below is one of my favourite detail shots from last year's weddings. The epitome of femininity, this bouquet was made for Liz by her mother for her wedding day. So beautiful, I chose to photograph it very delicately, and more importantly, very simply.
This philosophy is something I want to bring into my images more & more.
