Back in March I had the great honour to
photograph Jennifer and Leighton's fabulous wedding at the beautiful Eastington Park in Gloucestershire, and last week I excitedly presented
them with their wedding album.
Seeing the images again, I had the urge
to go back and look at the whole collection again, and felt the same rush of
emotion as when I saw them for the very first time.
Every wedding is so unique and special,
and I was exceptionally excited about this one. I first met Jen when I moved to
Chalford a couple of years ago and her son Toby became friends with my son,
Henry. Jen saw my website and enquired into booking me to photograph her
forthcoming wedding, and you would expect at this point for me to say that 'the
rest is history', but far from!
Around the same time, I was working on
my Associateship panel for the BIPP and was closley approaching deadline day to
submit my portfolio. Because I have a habit of don't do anything by halves, I was at the
very same time opening a studio. Jen's daughter Molly is one very beautiful
little lady, and even though at the time I hardly knew them, I asked Jen if I
could use Molly to take some test shots at the new studio. We had great fun and consequently, one of the shots of Molly ends up bagging me an award at the
BIPP South West Awards, being part of the portfolio that won me
Highly Commended in The Peter Grugeon Trophy and ended up as the cover image for
my price list, promotional poster etc too!
As the wedding day got closer and
closer, the more and more I got to know Jen now as a friend too, and I started getting more and more excited about the wedding. I had
never photographed a wedding at Eastington Park before either, and when we went
to look around in the lead up to the big day, I knew this was going to be a
very elegant affair.
When the day itself arrived, the first
day of sunshine in months, it really did feel like the start of spring and
everything that it symbolises. I was delighted that Jen & Leighton decided
to chose my package of having two photographers, because not only did the very
talented Fiona Lord capture fantastic moments which would have been impossible for
me to capture if I was working on my own, but also it allowed me to be
thoroughly indulged and stay with Jen and the bridemaids, capturing all the
little moments right up until the moment they walked down the aisle.
Jen looked stunning in her dress
from The
White Room (famed for supplying Zara Phillips' wedding dress)
and jewellery from Hermoine Harbutt , Leighton very dapper in his
suit. The rooms were dressed beautifully by Cotswold
Vintage Party Hire and with everything overseen by Lisa and her team
at the hotel, the day just flowed perfectly.
It was also fantastic to work with Chris
from Indah
Wedding Films, and I very much enjoyed watching the video one girly
night in with Jen and a couple of other great friends, Lu and Wenna.
Choosing which images to show was very hard
as I love the whole set, but I have picked out the following 45 that to me best
represented a truly wonderful day. Thank you Jen, Leighton, Molly and Toby for choosing me to be there and being, well, fantastic x
