BIPP South West Awards 2013

Its been 6 months since I've blogged, a busy busy time moving house then straight into my favourite season of the year , 'playgroup and nursery season' , during which I have photographed in excess of 500 children one by one.

Now that Christmas is upon us so rapidly, the focus has been heavily on ensuring all those orders are completed and delivered, so it has been very much a case of nose to the grindstone, and will be for the next 2 weeks as well.

However, in the midst of this busy time, I received the fantastic news that an image I entered into the BIPP South West Awards for 2013, won the Portrait Category. Thoroughly delighted is an understatement!

The winning image was one from a series that  I took of a beautiful little lady last year in the stunning Berkeley Castle. These images have since contributed to my qualifications with the BIPP, which then resulted in me receiving the once in a lifetime "Highly Commended" in Peter Grugeon Award for Best Associateship.

However, this particular image I had kept back, maybe because it was always my favourite. I just always felt it had real strength on its own.

Yesterday, I was absolutely delighted to be visited at my studio by the president of the BIPP , Roy Meiklejon FBIPP , who I was able to show my winning image to and I was very honoured to be congratulated by him in person.

Very many thanks Roy for your time , and also to Paul Athey of The Lemon House Photography  for at very short notice popping in to take some photographs for me , a lovely memento of winning something a couple of years ago I only dreamt of.

And of course endless thank you's to Miss Freya Ryland.  A timeless beauty.

Portrait Day at Woodchester Mansion, Monday 27th May 2013.

I am now taking bookings for the unique opportunity to have your children/ family photographed within the grounds and inside the mansion itself, as have managed to acquire exclusive use for the day.
The beautiful countryside together with the breathtaking architecture, makes this one of my favourite venues to create images that suit my style and have in the past proved to be very well received and treasured.
Rather than my usual session fee of £100, I am offering sessions for just £50, and will also include a framed 7" print of your choice (usual price £65). Additional items can be purchased afterwards at no obligation. Spaces are limited to 5 bookings, so if you are interested in booking, email info@rebeccanorthway.com or call me on 01453 889169.

Oakley

I spent some 'me' time yesterday, revisiting images I have taken over the last 6 months since recieving my Associateship.
This is something I not only enjoy, but is good to do from time to time, take time out, step back, really look at your work. Often this process causes you to spot something about an image you haven't noticed before.
This is one of Oakley, a simple, classical portrait I just adore. He is so sweet, such a timeless little lad. One from a series of images taken in February.
Emulates everything I try to achieve in my portraiture.
